The folks who built and maintained this facility over the years, not only kept the original structure in tact, but its current owners, Rev. Verlyn-Rose and her husband, have restored its furnishing, the wallpaper, the carpets, the moldings throughout, and literally enhanced the value of this beautiful home to make it one of the show pieces of Everett and the surrounding community.
"Riverside Manor", a name given her in the early days, was the residences of one of regions more prominent businessmen. Owned by a lumber baron, this home was the pride and joy of some of the leading architects in this country, who sold its design and blueprint through the Sears & Roebuck catalog.
That's right! "Riverside Manor" was a fashionable "4-square design" that was the classic hit of its day after the turn-of-the-century. And yes, it was made available only between the glossy pages of this now, world famous, Sears & Roebuck catalog.
Just as much effort is put into expanding her charm today as was afforded her when she was first built. The past two years, "Riverside Manor" has undergone a complete remodel of her foyer area, the complete third story, and the staircases leading up to it.
Future construction plans will add another 1300 asf to its already 2700 square foot of space. A sweeping Victorian-style, wrap-a-round porch with a corner gazebo and turret combination will be constructed with a larger entertainment room off its south side. This will permit the facility to handle much larger weddings once the project is completed.
Once finished, wedding couples of the future may optionally marry within the facility as they are today, or outside, within the gazebo, in a more fashionable garden-type wedding arrangement.
After the wrap-a-round porch is added, the owners will renovate the entire front lawn and garden pond area. A complete, all brick courtyard will be built within new majestic rod-iron fence lines. Six to eight bistro settings will be installed, accented with walkways, benches, fountains, ponds, and the same Victorian ambiance traditionally conveyed in by-gone times.
The ownership looks forward to sponsoring a "HIGH TEA" as one of its landmarks. Perhaps a lunch hour special on favorable day's outdoors, and HIGH TEA served until 2:30 daily. All at no fee and supported by donations only!
Will you be the first customer? We hope so. All Victorian Style!
